Prompt frameworks

A framework is a checklist of the parts a prompt should contain. Here are three common ones, and the six-part structure VegaPrompts uses. Compare them all.

  • RTF

    Role, Task, Format

    Quick, single-step requests.

  • CO-STAR

Context, Objective, Style, Tone, Audience, Response

Writing where voice and audience matter.

  • RISEN

Role, Instructions, Steps, End goal, Narrowing

Multi-step tasks such as analysis or planning.

Examples of better prompts

Each guide shows a rough request, the prompt it becomes, and why that prompt works.
